Welcome back, starling!
There are deadlines stacked like an impregnable fortress on the horizon ahead, threatening to outlast my desperate attempts to defeat that dreaded beast, Homework.
My mental energy is just about spent (and coffee can only work for so long 😅), so I’ll be postponing the last half of chapter 7 until next Tuesday. By then this semester will be officially over and I can return to exploring the mirrorworlds and the many secrets awaiting our wingless fae, Eraneshu.
While we wait, here’s another adventure straight from the Faerie Trove: a wonderful portal perfect for a quick, lighthearted adventure. Let’s take a look!
A Curse for Christmas
Genre: magical realism / light fantasy
Audience: young adult1
Point of View: one
Tense: first person, past
Rating: five stars
"Christmas Eve was off to a rough start, and that was before I was cursed by a Christmas cookie."
Jinny’s not home for Christmas, and she’s fine with that. So what if she’s spending yet another Christmas Eve endlessly enchanting drinks at the café she works at, only to go home to an empty apartment? She’s definitely okay, no matter how many people keep asking—will people stop asking, please??
But when an old lady gives Jinny a Christmas cookie and she shares it with her coworker and friend Tate, things get a little complicated. Complicated as in the cookie was cursed and suddenly Jinny and Tate are madly in love with each other. Um, awkward.
Now Jinny and Tate are spending a snowy Christmas Eve searching for a cure, but as the night goes on, Jinny struggles to tell the curse from her true feelings. She and Tate need a Christmas miracle, because even dragon magic and peppermint hot chocolate might not be enough to fix this…
My thoughts
Literally perfect for Christmas
Gah! It's literally the perfect Christmas romance book! Does this mean I'm getting sappy? Probably, but I'll just get myself a cocoa with a peppermint stick and reread this over and over again. If you love Christmas, cocoa, romance, or *gasp* all of those things, then you need to read this book ASAP.
Feel free to grab a copy and make this magical portal your own:
Until next time, have a blessed week!

I’m not sure if this book is actually marketed as, or intended to be, young adult at all, but I think this book is a perfect Christmas romance for teens and adults alike! It’s a clean read - no smut, foul language, or gore.
